Why We Love Squarespace + Why You Should Too

When it comes to building a website, we’ve had our trial + error with different platforms! So, we’re sharing what we’ve learned to be the most reliable + workable website builder. It’s easy to get bogged down by how many web building options there are out there, including Wix, Wordpress, Squarespace, + several others. Squarespace, our personal favorite, is just one of many host sites where you can form + design a site. Out of the numerous options we’ve tried, Squarespace continues to be our favorite platform to work with + to utilize for clients. Pro tip- we always suggest working with a digital design expert on your website to keep branding consistent + your online platforms as professional as possible. There’s nothing worse than paying to have your perfect website created, + not being able to change or update simple information afterward, as needed. We’re breaking down our top Squarespace features + why our clients love using it for their weekly/monthly web maintenance.

CMS stands for “content management system”. Each website builder has its own CMS that varies depending on the interface. For novice web builders, it’s important to have a friendly CMS that allows you to update information without a headache. Squarespace has a very simple CMS where adding new information can be as easy as adding a block. After you’ve received your one of a kind Theory House website, you can log into Squarespace to add the latest news from your biz.

To edit one line of code for a websites, you typically have to go through several back pages of coding to find what you’re looking to change. It can be like finding a needle in a haystack! Say goodbye to this with Squarespace. Its block coding feature allows you to insert coding in specific areas of your site, without searching through the nonsense. Additionally, the platform’s “Custom CSS” tab functions as a forum for any code you may wish to insert into your website.

While trying different web builders, we found that many charge hefty fees for premium templates. Squarespace has a great selection of free templates + categorizes them to make suggestions based on what type of business you have. Each template can be customized, some more than others, + it’s easy to change templates if you decide you don’t like the one you’re working with. Squarespace organizes their layouts by family. (Our favorite is the Brine family because it allows for a large amount of customization, AKA a digital designer’s dream!)

Squarespace’s technical team can be reached via chat on their website. It’s a lot like instant messenger! You can see your customer service rep typing in real time. In a matter of minutes, you’ll have a technical expert responding back to your messages + helping you fix whatever problem you may have. You will have access to the customer service team, regardless of what level of plan you have with Squarespace.

SEO stands for “search engine optimization” + is a necessity for any website! It’s important for potential clients to be able to find your website. Squarespace’s SEO options allows you to connect common search words with your website, to make your online platform easier to find.

Squarespace has an email marketing feature that allows your website visitors to sign up for you newsletter, just like the one at the bottom of this page. In addition, you can create custom newsletters to email to your subscribers as often as you’d like.
